This century old building, located on Chokoloskee Bay , has weathered the effects of time and nature. Six hurricanes have bought water to the floor and the Smallwood Store has survived. However, Hurricane Irma has taken her toll. If the museum is to stand another 100 years, repairs are needed to ensure that future generations can visit and learn about the pioneers that settled this “Last Frontier”.
